Tell us you’re insured and certified to drive with Ola by supplying a valid certificate of motor insurance to us as a new or renewing driver. Save our eyes and your own time, by ensuring all text and handwriting on the document is clearly legible.
You can use this guide in two ways. The first section will take you through the simple process to upload your insurance document to the Ola app. A fuller Private Hire Vehicle insurance process overview will be covered after this section.
Details your certificate must show
If you own your vehicle:
-
- Insurance policy holder name
- This will be your name, or the company’s name if you drive in a hire vehicle.
- If you own your vehicle and have multiple names on your policy, your document will still be approved as long as your name is shown.
- If your vehicle is shared, you must be listed as a permitted driver.
- Insurance expiry date
- Vehicle registration number
- Type of cover
- Private Hire
- Hire and Reward for Carriage of Passengers
- Insurance policy holder name
Hire vehicle documentation
If you drive a hire vehicle, you will need to make sure the certificate you share also has the details below, in addition to those listed above. If the certificate doesn’t show your name, we will also accept your letter of permission from the rental company or Vehicle Schedule.
- Your name
- Driving Licence Number (if mentioned)
- Hire agreement validity
Update your insurance in the app
- Open the Ola driver app
- Enter My Profile > Documents > Car Documents > Insurance
- Upload your certificate
